Combining Eastern and Western Medicine

What is acupuncture and how does it work?
For over 2,500 years acupuncturists focuses on treating the whole person, not just the symptom. During treatment, special acupuncture needles may be inserted to restore the normal balance and flow of the vital life force Qi (pronounced chi of ki in Japanese) so that organs and bodily systems work together in harmony.

Does acupuncture hurt? Are the Needles Safe?
Acupuncture needles are extremely thin. Some patients experience a slight sensation while others report no pain at all. After a treatment (usually 60-75 minutes) the pre-sterilized individually packaged, needles are discarded after one use.

What conditions are effectively treated with acupuncture?
Because acupuncture aids the body in healing, it can be used for many different conditions-alone, or in conjunction with various forms of Western medicine. It is particularly well-suited for treating chronic problems where medication has proven not or under effective. Problems like allergies, headaches, infertility, menstrual disorders, hypertension, musculoskeletal injuries and insomnia.

Acupuncture may be used after surgery to help ease post-operative pain, or to help alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy for cancer patients. Though not a first line therapy for infections like strep throat or urinary tract infections, acupuncture allows for the ability to improve circulation and the immune system may prove helpful to those with frequent illness or healing difficulties.
